It is 1979. Marlene has just been promoted to the head of the Top Girls employment agency in London. To celebrate, she hosts a fantastical dinner party and invites six women from history, legend, art, and literature. When she returns to work on Monday morning, her niece Angie has made a surprise visit to London. As much as Marlene longs to be free to choose a future that discards the life she left behind in her rural hometown, Angie’s appearance forces her to confront the consequences of her various decisions as her past continues to unsettle the present.
